internal-acceptance-movement:

The idea of having a “perfect” body feels enticing.

It feels like the solution to our problems.

But in truth, it only perpetuates them.

We tell ourselves, “If I was thin, I would be happy”.

But we forget that the drive for thinness forces us to give up things essential to our happiness.

Wearing a size 0, for me, means being weak, sick, and unable to participate in life.

It means not having a period or a personality.

It means being tired all of the time and not being able to think.

It means never laughing or smiling.

It means isolating and rejecting plans because they revolve around food.

It means missing out on opportunities and losing friendships.

The reality is that our pursuit of thinness and beauty cause us to lose so much more than weight.

We end up losing life.

Losing sight of the fact that we are beautiful exactly as we are.

That we are perfect in our imperfection.

True happiness doesn’t lie in the size of a body or a number on the scale.

It’s found in the freedom to be ourselves.

It comes from friendship and laughter and love.

It comes from doing things that heal our hearts and nourish our souls.

It’s time to let go of the desire for thinness.

And start holding onto the desire for life and all the possibilities it has to offer.

Your happiness is yours for the taking.

It starts with deciding that life is more important than a size.

It starts with choosing connection over perfection.

And it starts with you.
